Peanut Ball

I attended a hospital birth, recently, where the nurses were so excited to share and implement the trial use of the peanut ball! They admitted they currently only had one and were testing for efficacy, but had seen great things so far. I left with mixed feelings. I honestly thought it was too big and awkward and didn't really see the benefits. The mom didn't seem to care for it either and its use seemed super unnatural. I understood and agreed with the overall idea, but its actual implementation was lacking. Then, I came across this article and these photos and voila! It totally resonated with me!!! I have since purchased various sizes and brought them along for all things pregnancy and labor:) I am a HUGE fan of maternal positioning in pregnancy and labor and have seen tremendous benefits of what I like to call, "relaxation positioning" in late pregnancy or early labor, to see if we can have anything to do with the baby being lined up optimally in preparation for the big event! It often involves many many pillows. The angle of the article and its list of benefits mostly pertain to its use in medicated childbirth with limited mobility, but seeing all of these photos and realizing the various ways it can be used, it has been added to my Doula bag, as well as incorporating how to use it, in my Prep for Childbirth classes. Afterall, if there is a tool that is provided, in the hospital, to help increase the chances of a vaginal birth....I want my couples to know it's likely benefits (when used properly) and how to actually use it! (according to reviews from those who have used and have enjoyed them, I chose the smaller, 45cm option. It works wonders to help with nighttime sleep issues as well!!) Please click on the below link and read the article!!:) https://www.scienceandsensibility.org/…/peanut-balls-for-la…
